Aurora Township to Consider Creating Historic District for Boxcar Campsite at April 9 Meeting

Historian and educator Dr. Alejandro Benavides is inviting the public to learn more about a proposed historic district on the site of the Boxcar Camp, a collection of old wooden train cars housing Mexican immigrants from 1922 to 1934 as described in his book Olivia. Aurora Township is discussing the designation for the unincorporated area east of the Fox River at its next meeting at 6 p.m. April 9 at the Community Center, 313 Gale St.
