1,872 hours. That's how much training Ron Bennett needed in 1968 to become a barber. The Main Street Barbershop has been in Oswego for over 60 years. Ron took ownership eight years ago. Ever since then, his chair has never been empty.
Ron Bennett:
Well, when I started in Aurora in 1968, there were 130 barbers in Aurora. The guys that were barbers when I started, there's three. I came here eight years ago. It's been great. I have wonderful people in this town. It's a great little city. When I was working five days a week, I tried to do 20 a day. So, to make a living, a 100 haircuts.
Joey Thurman:
Wow.
Ron Bennett:
It was pretty easy to do. Some days you weren't making the mark, but I made a living. But now I'm going to be 76 in September, I want to slow down. So three days a week's fine with me. And I love what I do. Meeting people like you guys, it's great.
