Joey Thurman: It's still not Friday, but it doesn't mean you can't laugh on a Thursday. The Still Not Friday comedy show has been going on for over six years at the Roundhouse. It's a free show, and during COVID they had to shut down. But now it's back with lots of fun, enjoyment, and of course, laughter. It's still not Friday.

Joey Thurman: Well, it's still not Friday. It's actually Thursday.

Matt Drufke: It is Thursday.

Joey Thurman: It's Thursday, Matt, what have we got going on here, man?

Matt Drufke: Well, for the last six years, we have live stand-comedy. Some of the best comedians from Chicago and Milwaukee, all over the Midwest, get a chance to come out and have a good time here, give this audience a wonderful free show, just to try and give back, give some, give people something to do on a Thursday. Two Brothers gives us this room so that the only people in here, are in here for comedy. People who want to eat, they eat in the restaurant. People who want, people who are here for special events, they have the banquet halls. This is the, Thursday night, this is a comedy club, and that's really special. I think that's something really cool and impressive, and we're just working hard on giving people a good time. That's so important.

Joey Thurman: When somebody comes to a comedy show, what rules of engagement should they per... [crosstalk 00:01:28] Matt Drufke: Oh, I don't like to ask.

Joey Thurman: I know, cause [crosstalk 00:01:33] like you've got to have rules. Here we go.

Matt Drufke: So look, there are, it's the three big rules. The easy one, first off, you turn yourself in...

Matt Drufke: ...and then the final rule we always say, is just tip your servers. Well, especially because I want to point out, it's a free show. It don't cost nothing. So take that money that you would've spent. Most comedy clubs, you go somewhere, you're paying a ticket, then you're paying a two drink cover. We have none of that. So take that money, make sure you're giving back to our servers. Then our rule in as far as talking is, if a comedian talks to you, that is fair game. If a comedian it not talking to you, just sit, listen and laugh.

Joey Thurman: You're not on stage. Don't try to be on stage, you're in the audience.

Matt Drufke: Also, or what is surprising to me is how many people will sit and just have like a normal conversation. They're not heckling, but it's just guys talking about, "Hey, you see the game last night." It's, like, this isn't Netflix. We're live. We hear you.

Joey Thurman: It's like when somebody's doing a speech at a wedding or something, you're just talking, Hey, there's somebody trying to talk here.

Matt Drufke: There is this thing about people. The thing you hear all the time, and it is often when I give people who talk, I give them a little bit of a pass, and you have to be a little polite. People genuinely believe that, one, it is something comedians want, and I can tell you right now, we do not. I can tell you right now, we do not.

Joey Thurman: Did you hear that?

Matt Drufke: We do not like it.

Joey Thurman: Again.

Matt Drufke: Please stop.

Joey Thurman: We do not.

Matt Drufke: Please stop. Please stop, stop all the time. The other thing they think is, they think that they're helping the show, because you offer every YouTube clip that is great. It's like comedian shuts down heckler.

Joey Thurman: Right.

Matt Drufke: It's, there's never a YouTube clip that's like audience politely responds to years of hard work. Again, our room very polite. We have amazing fans. I love it. We had a heckler for the first time in a year and some, two years or whatever. I was just, I can't believe this happened, and then you show up like an angel offering this stage, and it's such a wonderful accent. That's a wonderful thing. I can't not just...

Joey Thurman: I don't know. I don't know if everybody heard that, but basically he said there's...

Matt Drufke: An angel.

Joey Thurman: An angel. I have a halo over my head. I'm excited to check out the show.

Matt Drufke: Wings under the jacket.

Joey Thurman: Thank you so much.

Matt Drufke: Thank you so much.
